**First-Half Figures Reveal 18.4% Increase in Deficit**


Morocco's trade deficit surged by a significant 18.4% year-on-year during the first half of 2025, reaching 161.8 billion dirhams ($17.8 billion), according to the latest foreign trade bulletin from the Office des Changes.  

This widening gap is primarily attributed to a slowdown in automotive exports, which have traditionally been key contributors alongside phosphate products to Morocco's economic output. 


 "The decline in auto exports has played a major role in the increase of the deficit," stated an official source.
